Our Work

Our technical expertise is backed up by extensive experience of implementing website projects. Here is a taster of what we have been involved in...

Nicholas Howard – Website

Nicholas Howard Ltd approached us to create a company website, showcasing their approach to recruitment which is based on experience and hiring with as much care and attention to detail as their own clients would. In addition the site needed to carry up-to-date listings of their jobs and include a search feature. We selected WordPress as the Content Management system, allowing the site to be easily updated.

Tonsho – Web Application

Tonsho is our in-house web application for sending large email attachments.  Tonsho is a full blown web application, built in Java for Apache Tomcat.  In addition to building the front-end web site and web application for sending files, this project involved integrating with several external APIs: Amazon S3 for file storage, Google Chekout and PayPal for payment processing, and ReCaptcha for protection against spam.  This application makes deep use of email integration, for which Apache James is deployed with custom plugin components called Mailets.  To top it off we created a custom Java Applet to handle bulk uploads, to enable Tonsho to seemlessly handle dropped network connections during uploading.

Steven Pearce – Website and Newsletter

For this project we were asked to perform the website build and provide newsletter hosting. We provided a staging site for previewing the site before publishing. We also used our CMS to easily share images and content with Design Freedom during development of the site. The newsletter signup on Steven Pearce’s site links directly to Tonsho where we provide hosting for the mailing list.

Rotary Bristol Aztec – Social Network Website

Rotary Bristol Aztec approached us to develop a site where they could update information about events, share photos and also message each other for organizational purposes.  We felt that the social network creation site Ning would provide the most cost effective way to fulfil this brief.  We created and configured a social network on Ning, opting to remove the adverts and pay for the premium service. We then created styling for the site to match the general Rotary style. In addition to giving details of the chapter’s own events and news, the home page also takes a news feed direct from Rotary UK.

Design Freedom – Website

We were asked to build this website using javascript to allow different sections of the site to open with a smooth animation. We designed the site to ensure that, without javascript, all pages are accessible through standard navigation elements – meaning the site will be fully indexed by search engines. This site is fully content managed using our powerful CMS.

Glos Sci – Training Forum

We were asked to provide a solution for sharing information on a Gloucestershire University training course. The system needed to allow for the exchange of course materials and allow tutors to communicate with students. In addition we were asked for a system where students could communicate with each other to stimulate discussion with the group. We deployed phpBB which allows resources to be posted as well as discussion threads. RossTech performed customization, deployment and provided fully supported hosting for this system.
